The COMIC DOCTOR will improve the appearance, condition and value of your prized comic books.
Kevin Polidano has been a comic book enthusiast for well over 25 years. He holds an honours bachelor of fine arts degree and bachelor of education degree from the University of Toronto. While at U of T, he focused primarily on painting, drawing, sculpting and art history. Kevin’s first foray into preservation and restoration was refinishing antique phonographs and gramophones. In this time, he learned how to restore and care for old wood and metal.
Soon there after, Kevin began to investigate the methods and tools used in comic book pressing and dry cleaning as well. Through much experimentation (and discussing the process with professional conservators and art restorers), he eventually developed a safe and effective method to press and gently clean comic books. Today, Kevin has pressed hundreds of comic books and regularly does so for many local dealers and collectors. Only recently has Kevin began offering his service on a larger scale via his Comic Doctor website.
And remember that Comic Book Pressing and Comic Book Dry Cleaning, when done right, is not detectable or noted by third party grading companies like CGC or CBCS.
If you have a special comic book (or books) that could use a “face-lift”, take a few moments to visit The Comic Doctor website and investigate the art of comic book pressing. Kevin is always available to answer any questions or discuss comics from your collection that may benefit from a pressing and cleaning.
